| As I see it…
What does a Fall Fest look like? By the time you read this we will all have a better idea how to answer that question. From our current perspective it’s probably seen as a massive set of semi-related pieces. One committee is principally responsible for bringing the various pieces together. But even they, at this point, would be hard pressed to say, “This is the way it will look.” There have been myriads of materials to be ordered, printed and distributed. There has been a variety (both in number and in makeup) of different organizations and ministries contacted to participate. There has been a composite map of both our greater community and CBC’s eleven acres assembled to both understand our target area for invitations (the former) and the logistical layout of activities for the day (the latter). There have been innumerable phone calls, emails, contacts, visits and discussions about the event as a whole. There has been the gracious involvement of dozens of people to do necessary leg work, purchases and arrangements for the variety of games, activities and hosting of a variety of guests we expect for the day. There have been more than a few committee meetings to help shape this event we’re calling Fall Fest. There has been the occasional need for at least a little bit of heart palpitating panic that sets in, mostly in the last few days from a source that nobody thought to include in our preparation: the county health department. (Nonetheless, they didn’t fail to contact us…a good thing!) Then, lest we forget, the “techy” side of things. A great web site, a nifty little CD put together as a “promo” to give to our guests and the other related PR logos and implements used to help “get the word out” about this long awaited day. Then, lest I forget, the hours of prayer during the preparation and anticipation of this day…a ministry that will continue during Fall Fest as well. And, there have been the sacrificial gifts of time, talent and money by God’s people. And still, I am sure, there are many other matters left that haven’t been covered. After about an 18 month gestation period, the baby is about to appear! Isn’t it amazing to consider how much by comparison, must have gone into the simple words of our Lord when he told his disciples not to fear, he was going away to prepare a place for them as well. So that where he is, we can be. I wonder if the Triune Godhead had very many committee meetings about our future abiding places? Pastor Megilligan |
